I am quite beside myself to get to see Russia’s critically acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet Theatre, as it heads back to Johannesburg at the Teatro Montecasino from the 15 September 2017 with two magnificent Tchaikovsky ballets (which are two of my favourites as well!!) the immortal Swan Lake and the beloved Christmas special The Nutcracker in one thrilling season.

With lavish sets, glorious costumes, a company of 60 and not forgetting Tchaikovsky’s immortal score, audiences will once again embrace the majesty of Russian classical ballet at its best.

The Nutcracker is a full-length production that brings to life the magical tale of young Clara and her Nutcracker Prince and their fantastic adventures into a world where dreams come to life.

Swan Lake, the most beloved ballets in the world, tells the classic love story between Prince Siegfried and the Swan Princess Odette divided by the villainous sorcerer Rothbart in a story where true love conquers all. The iconic “white acts” with tutus, pointe shows and brilliant bravura dancing is everything you expect from Russian classical ballet.

Founded in 1994, The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre is renowned globally not just for its beautiful Vaganova trained dancers but also for its stunning, grand, full-length productions. The Company travels internationally complete with breathtaking scenery and magnificent costumes.

The 60 members who make up the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre continually collect rave reviews around the world.
