Calling all board game and game enthusiasts – I have just the thing for your next family board games evening or braai! Mattel South Africa recently launched Pictionary Air – a new version of the game that takes sketches off the paper pad and onto your phone, tablet or TV screen.

Pictionary has been around since 1985 and has inspired as many laughs as the number of hilarious sketches drawn over the years. Starting as a board game, Pictionary is available in several editions, now including a mobile app. The introduction of Pictionary Air takes the group fun you know and love to the next level by incorporating connected play and enhancing the experience through digital engagement.

Like the classic, which started as a board game, Pictionary Air players are divided into two teams and take turns illustrating a word selected from a deck of cards. But, instead of drawing on a paper pad or whiteboard, players “illustrate” their word in the air using an oversized light-up pen, and drawings can be seen by using the Pictionary Air App. This also allows players to interact with their sketch, bringing the game to life.

The easy-to-use Pictionary Air app introduces multiple gameplay modes so fans can take their Pictionary experience to the next level. Customise your Pictionary Air experience by giving players more (or less!) time to guess. You can record, snap and save all your funny, memorable and awkward moments as well as share them to social media.

Pictionary Air is perfect for any party or games night with 8-year olds and up. Through the in-app screen, which is compatible with IOS and Android operating systems, you’ll be ready to get up and move in no time.

Pictionary Air is available at selected retailers at a recommended retail price of R449.99. Included is a Pictionary Air™ pen, 112 double-sided clue cards and card box and one AA Alkaline battery.
