Mantsho, a clothing label that was established by Palesa Mokubung in 2014 has launched an exclusive collaboration with 1st for Women Insurance and Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi to encourage South African women to live fearlessly.
This collaboration coincides with the launch of 1st for Women’s new fearless campaign that features Tunzi – an icon of strength, courage and resilience.
The T’s feature Mantsho’s characteristic and quintessential bold prints symbolising a path of a woman who is ready to deconstruct in order to rebuild and is emblazoned with the word “fearless” – making them a statement T with a confident edge. 20% of the proceeds from the sale of the T’s will be donated to the 1st for Women Foundation to assist in the fight against women abuse.
Mokubung says that the designs represent courage coupled with a good dose of colour and charisma.
“The T’s makes a bold statement and serve as a reminder that women have everything they need within them to be who they want to be and do what they want to do. It encourages an attitude of fearlessness. It’s also a statement to the rest of the world that you are a strong woman, who owns who you are and who you want to be,” says Mokubung.
According to Tunzi: “Our fearless T’s speak to a strong, inner attitude. They serve as a reminder to those who wear them to answer the question – ‘what you would do if you were fearless’?” Being fearless is both a decision and an action. It doesn’t mean living a life devoid of fear, but living a life in which our fears don’t hold us back. It’s the audacity to be unhindered by failure or judgement, and to walk with freedom, strength and hope in the face of things unknown. Wearing this T will remind women to do just that.”
Robyn Farrell, CEO of 1st for Women Insurance says: “Since 2005, the 1st for Women Foundation has contributed over R81 million to various organisations that focus on fighting woman abuse, assisting over 100 000 victims and survivors of abuse. Proceeds from the sale of the T’s will go towards our preventative and response programme that takes into account and addresses the root cause of the epidemic. This is one of the ways 1st for Women is being fearless – by tackling a problem of pandemic proportion.”
