Only a few months have passed since new pop music force Oli Milne released his moving debut single ‘I’ll Be Okay’ – a powerful song about mental health. The song has gained the attention of many and is now a countrywide radio chart hit. In his latest offering, the Durban-based 22-year-old singer-songwriter showcases another side to his unique sound as he continues to tap into his own life experience.

Produced and recorded in New York City by Kevin Andreas, who has worked with the likes of Lil Wayne, ‘This Girl’ is an eclectic uptempo pop song where acoustic meets electronic in an entertaining and unique way. The song is laced with rhythmic guitar strums synonymous of Shawn Mendes which are stacked against a backdrop of shimmering synths and heart-pumping drums that have a near-rock edge.

Oli speaks passionately about the meaning behind the song: “We can’t control the way we feel about people. Sometimes the timing is wrong or we’re just simply not ready for each other. Sometimes we’ve romanticized the idea of someone who’s not right for us at all. It’s a song about the feelings that are there when we’re on the verge of losing it all.”

Along with the deep emotional value, the song also carries a provocative sexiness to it as the crooner’s honey vocal tones carry you through a catchy and danceable vibe.

Whilst enjoying the chart success that his debut single has been receiving countrywide, the prolific songsmith has been working hard to finish as much new music as possible as he sets his sights to release his debut EP in the not-too-distant future.
