Cape Town singer/songwriter Kristi Lowe returns to the pop domain in 2020 with the release of her new single “Take me away”. A poignant ballad about struggling with the loss of a loved one and learning to navigate through life without them, it is at once both uplifting and emotionally charged- sad in places but also an ode to hope and redemption.

At 22, Kristi has tasted success in her music career with her debut single “I Need More Time”, a collaboration with hit popsters Good Luck which reached the Top 3 on iTunes upon its release. She has also performed at many prestigious events and venues both locally and abroad including the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions Nice Acropolis in France, Grand-West Casino, Newlands Stadium, Table of Peace and Unity (and many more). Kristi and her late sister Jenna Lowe shared a massive love for music but, when Jenna, unfortunately, passed from a rare terminal lung condition, Kristi took a step back from performing and writing to allow herself time to heal with her family.

Having come to terms with her loss, and reignited her passion for writing, she has forged ahead with re-establishing herself as an artist who believes in the healing power of music. Writing songs allows her to express those feelings of loss while honouring her sister’s memory.

With inspiration drawn from fellow self-empowered singers like Adele, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse, Kristi penned “Take me away” as a message of hope that reaches out to people in a way that only an authentic song can. ”I often find myself thinking of a quote by Plato, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything”, and in many ways, this is exactly what music has done for me, and what I can only hope my music will do for others.”

Her haunting vocal and minimalistic understated production deeply express her feelings since finding her voice again; “There will always be a piece of Jenna in everything I do, and I feel I have now reached a place where I can allow her legacy to motivate and inspire me.”

With “Take me away” the bells of pop stardom ring out announcing the arrival of a musical soul whose genuine desire to make a difference to others is the central motivation of what promises to be a long and successful career.
