“During lockdown you can’t go out to party, but we can bring the party to you at home”, so says James Shaw, brand manager of Fitch & Leedes, producer of South Africa’s most innovative and exotic bespoke mixers.
“Saturday night we throw a party”, says Howard Sackstein, Chairman of the SA Jewish Report, “Goldfish join us for a vibey dance set live from the USA and multi-platinum singing sensation Lira, will be hooking in with a jazzy soul performance”.
Comedians and musicians will all grace the digital stage for this free on-line celebration of life, which promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable events of lockdown.
L’Chaim, a Toast to the People of South Africa, features some of the country’s favourite comedians, Alan Committie, Barry Hilton and Loyiso Gola, as well as chart-topping rapper K.O, singing superstar Majozi, nostalgic crowd favourite PJ Powers and Cape Town’s lockdown balcony singing sensation, international star of Evita, Danielle Bitton.
Sackstein explains that “for thousands of years, in good times and in bad times, Jews around the world have always toasted L’Chaim – a toast to life! The term L’Chaim, entered the common lexicon through the film Fiddler on the Roof, with its famous lyrical song, sung by Topol “L’Chaim, L’Chaim to Life”.
Says Shaw, “this week we celebrated Youth Day and the sacrifices made by thousands of South Africans, young and old, black and white, Jew, Christian, Moslem, Hindu and atheist to ensure that today, we are all free. Even in difficult times let us not forget what we have achieved together, and what we still hope to achieve to build a remarkable South Africa for all those who live in it. So Saturday night grab a Fitch & Leedes and join us for a L’Chaim, a Toast to Life”.
The event will take place on Saturday 20 June at 8 pm and is free to all those who register HERE…
