Having recently spent time travelling around the Cape and exploring the beautiful area of Robertson (pre the COVID 19 outbreak, of course) I long to return to some of the beautiful places that we explored during those two weeks.
One that I particularly enjoyed visiting was the guest cottages at Windfall Wine Farm. These 5 self-catering cottages are perfect for medium to long term stays and make an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding areas. If you literally would like to get some peace and quiet away from other people and limited cell phone reception, this is the place for you!
Windfall Wine is located about 30 kilometres outside of the town (so make sure you have all your provisions packed before you head through to check-in). This budget-friendly spot should be on everyone’s travel list – cottages are roughly R 500 a night, which is a pretty good deal in my opinion.
The cottages are kitted out with the basics to get you through making your own meals, braai’s and the big bookshelf was well stocked with candles, games and books to keep anyone from getting bored.
Our 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage was neat and clean, with towels, and could accommodate 4 people easily. The cottage stoeps are big and provide some shelter from the midday heat, each with a built-in braai and outdoor furniture – or you can pop across to the pool area to have a swim if the midday South African heat gets too much for you.
Surrounded by beautiful mountain views, this is certainly the perfect spot to enjoy nature, some peace and quiet and the natural beauty of the Robertson area.
