Last seen on the Johannesburg stage five years ago, Joburg Ballet brings back Don Quixote. This powerful ballet is set in the bustling Spanish seaport of Barcelona and tells the story of beautiful, audacious Kitri and her love for the dashing but poor barber, Basilio.
Her father, however, has more ambitious plans for his headstrong daughter, hoping to marry her off to a wealthy but foppish suitor. But in the end, love conquers all in a cascade of classical ballet featuring celebrated showpieces, including the famous Don Quixote Pas de Deux.
The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra will be in the orchestra pit to bring to life one of the most sparkling music scores ever created for ballet. The orchestra will be conducted by Eddie Clayton.
I am delighted to have a set of four family tickets, a signed pointe shoe and an autographed programme all valued at R 1 112.00 to give away to opening night on 13th March 2020 at 19h30 at Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein.
