As spring arrives at the southern shores of Africa, premier Winelands destination Cavalli Estate between Stellenbosch and Somerset West has launched a solo exhibition by Rodan Kane Hart whilst Executive Chef Michael Deg of Cavalli Restaurant delivers a new menu to welcome in the new season.

Curator of the Cavalli Art Gallery, Amy Lyn Eveleigh, has collaborated with respected local Cape Town-based artist Rodan Kane Hart to solo exhibit “Borderless”. Predominantly known for his sculptural pieces, Rodan’s body of work is a multidisciplinary one spanning drawing, installation and performance – an approach based on his belief that the intention of an artwork should be supported by the chosen artistic medium.

“In this exhibition, Hart explores experiential structures and sculptures. Inspired by the ‘beauty’ of the artist’s studio and workspace as well as blurring the lines between creation and exhibition” says Eveleigh.

Chef Michael and his team harvest more than 80 per cent of the kitchen’s garden produce from Cavalli Estate’s own vegetable gardens, which stretch across more than an acre of land. Be sure to order the scrumptious Heirloom carrot, orange & ginger velouté, pearl couscous, orange crème fraîche, sweet potato crisps from the Vegetarian Menu. Farai Magwada, Cavalli’s very own accredited sommelier, pairs the dish with the estate’s Pink Pony, a delectable Grenache Noir.

Dishes of a meaty kind include Slow cooked spring lamb neck, crispy sweetbreads, potato fondant, broad beans, bacon jam, chipotle smartly paired with the Cavalli ‘Colt’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2017.

Enjoy the 6-course set menu priced at R500 per person (with Cavalli wine pairing for R650) and the vegetarian set menu for R350 (with Cavalli wine pairing for R500). And from Starters through to Desserts, there is a course for vegans too.
