Situated in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands is where you’ll find Middelvlei Wines, which has been owned and run by the Momberg family since 1919. As you enter the gates leading to the farm you are met by the breathtaking vineyard-strewn Amphitheatre, which overlooks the Bottelary Hills and the upper reaches of the Devon Valley.
The enticing aromas of the homemade potbrood and braaibroodjies give you a sneak peek of what lies ahead for your foodie experience, whilst Ben Momberg’s homemade pâté and Ouma Annie’s pumpkin fritters have placed the Middelvlei Boerebraai experience in a league of their own.
Make the most of the perfect Cape weather and sit outside on the sprawling verandah whilst admiring the views. On colder days the cosy fireplace inside will add extra warmth. The range of wines perfectly complements what can only be described as hearty South African comfort food. The selection of wines includes a Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Merlot and a Pinotage.
At a cost of R225 per person, your Boerebraai experience includes a starter and main course and is available seven days a week between 12 pm and 3 pm. Low carb and a vegetarian option are also available. For a nominal additional charge why not include another South African classic for dessert – a Malva pudding and ice cream, which is guaranteed to end off a perfect outing.
To ensure a truly memorable experience pre-booking is advised. For bookings or more information contact the farm on 021 883 2565 or check out their website here…
