I used to live on sweet goodies and treats when I was younger and waffles smothered in ice cream was the ultimate dinner/desert treat. Now I am slightly older (and not as in shape as I used to be) and things like dessert have been placed to the side – until I met Sticky Waffle this week.
So, the old waffles I know are gooey and doughy and loaded down with syrup, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that these waffles are different. They are light and fluffy and you can choose how much syrup you want on them, too.
Sticky Waffle prides itself in the design of low sugar, preservative-free and colourant-free waffle base. The super trendy, Waffles, Coffee and Shakes house has also done a fantastic job with offering delicious gluten-free, vegan and protein waffles – the beloved waffle just got healthier and tastier and I am loving it!
It offers a choice of sweet and savoury waffles, with a brilliant “design-your-own” concept. Every customer can choose from a wide variety of sweet and savoury toppings, fruit, nuts, ice cream and fresh cream to create your own waffle perfect for your breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert.
Honestly – the gluten-free waffle with fresh fruit and Nutella was delicious, and yes, I needed some help finishing mine (great date idea, hint hint) but I loved that I didn’t feel bloated or ill afterwards. I could honestly see myself having one or two of these a month as a healthier cheat meal option. Ob-sesssed!
Sticky Waffle is currently based at Grosvenor Crossing and Sandton City next to Ster Kinekor.
