Calling all music lovers – if an adrenaline filled musical adventure is right up your street, then do check out Guitar Wizards which is not to be missed and will be coming to Joburg, Pretoria and Cape Town at the end of February and early March!
Described as a ‘Treat for South African music lovers’ this show will see two generations of guitarists facing off in a “musical adrenaline” fuelled evening of Pop, Flamenco and Finger-style guitarists.
The show features celebrated international award-winning South African Guitar duo CH2 and a special guest from Poland – teenage whizz kid Marcin Patzralek.
The 90-minute show will be composed of everything expected and loads of unexpected treats such as Metallica, Beethoven, Gypsy Kings, Folk songs and thumping own compositions from both CH2 and the whizz kid Marcin.
18-year-old Marcin Patzralek is literally dynamite on his guitar and will be coming in all the way from Poland to perform. He is well known online for his internet breaking and viewed by millions – special interpretations on Guitar of the Entire Beethoven 5th Symphony and his exuberant take on everything from Metallica to Ed Sheeran. CH2 needs little introduction to guitar lovers – this group have produced 12 hit albums in the last 15 years and was founded by Corneille Hutten. They also boast an award-winning DVD showcasing a full symphony orchestra and have won numerous SAMA and Ghoema awards.
Says Marcin, “I’m counting the days to travelling to Africa for the first time. It’s been a long cold winter here and I am looking forward to meeting all South Africans and sharing my music with them. This is a dream come true for me and I feel honoured to share the stage with CH2 – who are on another level”.
“To be able to perform with a guitarist of Marcin’s calibre is always mind-blowing. When you have practiced 50,000 hours in your lifetime, you have a pretty good “excuse” to be great. The stages are going to BURN!!!!!!!” adds Corneille Hutten of CH2.
Guitar Wizards is the first in a series of concerts under this umbrella moniker that plans on hosting a special guest and showcasing the creativeness and diversity of guitar music to old and new audiences twice a year.
