Who doesn’t enjoy a yummy glass of Shiraz, right? And if you love Shiraz, then you are in the right place.

The Magic of Syrah, a special and exclusive masterclass and tasting in which wines from South Africa will be tasted against those from New Zealand, Australia, and the Rhône Valley in an exclusive Masterclass on Wednesday 7th November in Craighall Park.

Wines to be tasted include Cote Rôtie (France); John Duval (Australia); Man O’War (New Zealand) and from South Africa the De Grendel Elim (Durbanville Wine Valley); Strandveld; Waterkloof; Rustenberg; Cederberg; Eagles Nest; Boschkloof and Boekenhoutskloof.

Presented by the Institute of Cape Wine Masters and supported by the Cape Wine Academy, it takes place at Gerakaris Family Wines in Craighall Park at 18h00.

The masterclass will be presented by Dr. Andy Roediger, chairperson of the Shiraz SA Challenge, and a panel of experts who will be discussing where South African Shiraz stands in a global context.

Says Roediger: “I am passionate about syrah – did you know that the world translates to ‘princess’ in Arabic? I look forward to putting some of South Africa’s finest Shirazes against some of their global counterparts.”
