I love supporting young talent, and really enjoyed last years RedFest, hosted at RedHill School in Morningside, Johannesburg. This years showcase promises to be as great and will be taking place from Saturday the 28th of September to Sunday 30th September at the school!
Expect to see some sterling productions from students and invited guests, while also no doubt offering talent scouts an opportunity to mark up and coming stars of the stage & screen, and this showcase is key to helping prepare students for the world that awaits them.
RedFest brings together the crème de la crème of South Africa’s arts community for a weekend of performance, creativity, and knowledge sharing that puts the youth truly centre stage.
For the casual observer, kids in tow, stalls and events cater for all ages while mom and dad can grab a delicious cuppa in the highveld sun or sit down to some great meals from Jozi’s finest gourmet food trucks. With a wide range of shows, market stalls, kids’ activities, RedFest allows one to flit from one venue within the grounds to another, all the while soaking up a diverse range of artistic endeavour.
From humble (and successful) beginnings, the festival has managed to secure some of South Africa’s hottest and most exciting talent. RedFest will play host to Craig Morris (Tartuffe, Johnny Boskak is Feeling Funny), James Cairns (The Snow Goose, Three Little Pigs), The National Children’s Theatre, Mncedisi Shabangu (Woza Albert, Tshepang) and many others. This is only a handful of the 17-odd productions that will grace our RedFest stages. Joining the theatrical line-up will be some strong student theatre, created for students by students.
The weekend line-up includes theatrical productions for the whole family, live music and contemporary art exhibitions, Jozi’s finest gourmet food trucks and our Redhill Community Table where our guests can unwind, indulge and soak up the culture. With a varied and detailed programme of entertainment, this year’s festival promises to exceed all expectations of a great day out.
The festival will be open Friday the 28th of September and will run until Sunday the 30th of September at Redhill School in Morningside, Johannesburg.
With ample parking and all amenities available, RedFest 2018 promises to take a great initiative to new heights and provide premier entertainment for all comers.
