It has been a busy year for the Feenix Team since they launched in June 2017. And thanks to their main sponsor Standard Bank, they have been able to achieve some truly memorable moments.
Feenix is a new way for students to access funders and funding at universities in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KZN and encourages students to use the power of their social media platforms to reach incredible education funding goals. Sharing, liking and promoting takes on new meaning as it has now become a powerful tool for change and future development.
Students register on the platform and go through a stringent process to ensure that the match is a beneficial one for both parties. Fees are paid directly to the tertiary institution – cutting out the opportunity for funds to go amiss – which I really like.
From R 2 500 to R 600 000 – students that need a helping hand to get themselves finished with their studies and out in to the working world, where they can showcase their true talents are signing up in their droves.
As are the funders. Never before has there been a platform where individual donors and corporate investors can choose the amount they want to give, with the security of knowing where their money is going.
The Feenix team is slowly growing team itself grew, and reaffirm their commitment as well as their continued goal to ensure that all students have access to a quality alternative funding channel, regardless of economic circumstance, so that no student disappear between the cracks either during the rollout over the next few years or after once final implementations are indicated.
They are excited to being a resource for both funders and students as a model for sustainable tech-based and community-driven funding.
I am chatting to Leana de Beer the Operations Manager for Feenix on SAfm Radio (104 – 107 FM) tonight at 21h30. Make sure to in and have a listen to find out more… www.safm.co.za
