I recently joined a team of media and paid a visit to the brand new Ocean Basket in Montecasino. They have totally transformed their look and feel and have moved from the food court, to outside on the piazza, where John Dory’s used to be.
It’s a big premises, and the team, and management are excited and ready to rock it. The restaurant maintains the Ocean Basket look and feel (but with the new branding and specific key elements) – modular and modern without losing the charm and simplicity that have driven the brand’s success over the years.
Spilling out into the open-air venue, the position offers patrons a view of all the activities and events taking place on the Piazza and is conveniently close to the theatre and their summer menu focuses on fresh herbs with tangy lemon and is full of colour and crisp flavours, to complement a growing range of seafood.
The menu offers a feast of Mediterranean flavours and they have added several protein-rich salads to their offering: rich smoked trout salad with avo and sesame seeds; a queen prawn salad with halloumi, avo and sweet soy dressing; and a light tuna salad with fresh Mediterranean salsa.
The taste-sensation starter portions are increasingly popular so included on the menu this season is a new calamari bowl topped with rocket and Mediterranean salsa, Mediterranean rice balls created using halloumi and herb mayo; crumbless salmon and trout bites; and Spanish anchovies with a Med salsa. Do yourself a favour and get the sharing tapas boards – you will be in heaven!
If sushi is your thing you want to check out the artful blend of traditional sushi, now with a Mediterranean twist – but totally delicious.
For dessert new ice cream bowls with Turkish delight or halva satisfy the sweet tooth and the halva cheesecake (served warm) is a life changer and could become totally addictive!
They also offer an extensive new range of summer cocktail carafes – all your faves from Cosmopolitan, Margarita, or Long Island Iced Tea, or enjoy an icy Mojito, Pina Colada or Strawberry Daiquiri.
