It’s all about health and wellness these days – and I am happy to share that well known local award-winning actress, choreographer, TV host Khabonina Qubeka, is the first South African to release a fitness DVD!

Khabonina has always had a passion for fitness, and is a great believer that a healthy lifestyle is an important one and spreads the positive message that fitness has on one’s body and mind.

Now, she is taking her passion for yoga to the next level as she heads out on an international tour where she and YogaRaj are conducting the first ever #Mandela100Yogathon in Hong Kong, with the assistance of Brand South Africa and the South African consulate in Hong Kong.

The aim of the tour is to spread the message of health and fitness and its importance – especially in children. The star continues her mission to educate the country about the powerful attributes yoga has on a person and Khabonina will showcase how yoga specifically has changed her life.

“Travelling the world gives you a glimpse into how other people live. I’ve seen the effects yoga has had for countless people in many countries around the world,” Khabonina says. “Yoga has especially become popular in African countries and I want to make a deeper impact with my travels by showcasing the ability to self-heal through the medium and its importance. I’m excited to teach the continent how to use yoga to their benefit.”

Although Khabonina’s main focus is making an impact around Africa, the first leg of her journey will see her visit Hong Kong after she was extended a special invitation by Guinness World Record holder YogaRaj to participate in the Afro Asia Yogathon. This is all in support of the Nelson Mandela Centenary and the programme represents the focal point of the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s strategy to elevate the legacy and memory of Nelson Mandela and everything he stood for.

She will be in Hong Kong from 27th March to 4th April and then will be heading to Botswana between 26th and 29th April where she will run a fun Health Fitness Africa session for the communities, and she will share various healthy food talks, how to curb diabetes and obesity and the power simple yoga workouts have on one’s body.

The third stop will be in Zanzibar, Tanzania between 21st and 28th June where she will also be hosting a Yoga Fun retreat where families and couples can join her at a private resort and learn more about this exciting medium.

Back in SA Khabonina will be spreading her message via some exciting events around the week of the 18th to the 26th of July and is excited to share her knowledge at home as well. She will be visiting a variety of schools where she will be speaking to children about the importance of fitness and how living a healthy, active lifestyle now will have a massive impact on their bodies in the future.
