There is always something cool on the go with the team at Tsogo Sun – and a January baby, Thabo Hleli, a senior technician from Bloemfontein – is the winner of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Edition C, featuring AMG Line in Tsogo Sun’s Stay&WIN promotion.

“My birthday is in January and it’s always disappointing because no one has any money and no one wants to party. I had become used to that. Then three days after my birthday Tsogo Sun called me to tell me I had won the car. I couldn’t believe it – I am just an ordinary guy, and I had no expectations of winning when I was entered into the competition. This win has humbled me, and I am very grateful to Tsogo Sun.”

In fact, when he was first told he was the winner, Hleli was sure it was a prank and it took some convincing before he finally believed he had won the top prize.

The Stay&WIN promotion was the first of its kind for hotels, rewarding guests for simply choosing to stay with Tsogo Sun, and ran from 1 September to 31 December 2017.

A total of 1.9 million entries were received from 157 000 guests. Twenty-four prizes to the value of R700 000 have been given away throughout the competition, including iPads, weekend holidays, Takealot vouchers, Cellini luggage, and the Mercedes Benz, which was handed over to a thrilled Hleli on 31 January. His mother, brother, and two sisters attended the handover with him.

Hleli, who has been a Tsogo Sun Rewards cardholder since 2012, stayed with Tsogo Sun several times for 12 nights through the promotional period. He says he loves Tsogo Sun because it is so friendly and welcoming, very comfortable, and a home away from home. He is a fan of Tsogo Sun and has stayed in the group’s hotels in Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Vanderbijlpark, and Johannesburg – and looks forward to many more Tsogo Sun stays.
