I’ve seen the movie, would be nice to see what SA talent has in store.
This would make for the perfect alternative to our usual movie date night. Hoping to win ?
An inspiring work, which is so relevant in term of addressing sexism and love in our current situation. A boost for every South African’s soul. I personally would love to experience this Alice Walker classic ““I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it.” so I paraphrase you might be pissing God off if you didn’t notice The Colour Purple!
I love plays and enjoyed watching the movie, i would like to see the amazing play, my younger sister would learn a lot as a teenager.
I always enjoy going to the Joburg Theatre and from reviews, The Color purple musical is too nice and would be a pleasure for me and wife to attend

…My first experience with musicals at the Joburg Theatre was King Kong and I saw the immense talent that is Lerato Mvelase. I am looking forward to seeing more of her as she is part of the Color Purple as well. I have been hearing amazing stories about the Color Purple and it would be a great honor to experience this musical in my own country. I hear Aubrey Poo is definitely a must-see.
I have never seen color purple and have never been to the theatre before. And it is my birthday a few days before that.

I am a stage performer myself and I love love Theatre.
This musical is truly inspirational and talks about themes like tolerance and accetance. This musical would be a great start to year. Lets gets inspired and i would live to treat my second half with a night out.
the Color Purple won a Tony on Broadway in 2016. I’m betting that Joburg Theatre’s production will be even better. And I love the colour purple! ?
The Joyful Noise on a local stage… this is going to be a groundbreaking production which I would not want to miss! It would be such a treat to experience The Colour Purple live.
Because I a theatre geek through and through! I just know SA can compete with Whoopi and Oprah to give lofe to Alice Walker’s novel. Why watch a movie when you can see it live!
I’d like to see the musical I need celebration of my latest mother, who taught me that real love can help us overcome the biggest challenges and conquer adversity in many forms….
Having seen the movie when I was much younger, I believe this would make a great play and would definitely looove to see it.
I would love to see the show as I haven’t seen the movie or read the book yet. I have wanted to see the movie though. If I win, this will be a much better rendition of the book I’m sure.
I would love to go see this musical. I’ve heard lots of good reviews and would like to see it with my own eyes.
I’ve read the book, watched the movie, the theatre production would be a great treat 🙂
Inspired by the write up. Would love to go on this journey of hope captured by the theatre cast. It would be a great adventure.
I would love to see the musical because of the impact the movie had In my life. Seeing it live would be more of a revival for me. It would bring more inspiration. Lately masculinity is enforced and this movie is prove enough that feminism is necessary and that females also have the power to change the world.
I also like the fact that the movie educates men to see the hardships women have to go through especially because most men are quite ignorant of the fact that rape exists, that it’s a nightmare and that it happens right before our eyes, their eyes.
So I would love to see the musical because of the power, love, healing and lesson it brings.
I grew up watching this morning and it really affected me and the way I view things. It is such a beautiful and important story.
Would love to win tickets
It’s Opera’s baby with a touch of Danny Glover in the heart on JHB bringing the Color Purple to the rainbow nation “Epic” would love to win this, a spiritual deliverance for every women to know their worth.
I’ve seen and love Steven Spielberg’s film, particularly Oprah’s brilliant performance and would love to see the tale brought to life on stage
I would love to see this show with South African talent, and would really like to win tickets, because post Christmas cash is low ?
I loved the movie and cannot wait to see the stage production especially to see what our South African actors can produce!
This is such an amazing story, the movie has become a classic. I would love to see it on stage performed by our talented South African actors.
My friend and I have been talking about watching the play since Kakadu. However, December took all of our money and we are now left broke and heartbroken that we can not afford the tickets. Winning them would be a plus ? with that being said, please do consider choosing us?
South Africa has such a chequered history and the country has moved on and is doing a wonderful job of showing the rest of the world how a nation can live and love. This sentiment is echoed in The Colour Purple and this show proves that SA is not alone in social issues that have contaminated all walks of life. I am enthralled that South African artists have embraced this project and hope to see them show the audience, even the world, how they can colour the stage purple.
Purple is my colour.
I think it would be more interesting as a musical than as a movie, musical are more engaging for me
I would love to see the show I saw the advert at joburg theater and I dnt wanna miss it.
I’m an up and coming musical theatre performer and have been following the various journeys of the performers in this show. Would love to be immersed in the magic of the Color Purple
Oh my word I would love to see the all South African talented cast perform this amazing show.
I have read the Novel and I would love to see the musical on the 6 February plus it would me great birthday present as my birthday will be on the 9 February, and also to support local SA talent.
The color purple helped me. As a black girl who never had much confidence, it pointed out the other side to me. The side of black excellence and black beauty the side where black girls look every bit as graceful and elegant as royalty. The color purple is s literary masterpiece and I would love to be able to witness the real live version of its absolute greatness
I absolutely love the color purple, watched the movie and had the privilege to meet Cynthia who was the lead in the original broadway Musical and the way she expressed the love a surrealness of the play really made me want to experience that but from the audience perspective and also to see what the All South African cast had to offer, with so many familiar faces starring in the musical, I honestly have no doubt this production will be AMAZING. It’s so great when South Africans challenge themselves to do such big productions and nail it to the parr. And of course the music, and the pain you hear when the songs are being sung, and to see real life experiences being put on stage is just everything. Art is life.
Congrats Khensani – I have sent you an email!
It would be an awesome experience especially with tje current issues in SA. It will provide hope to all. I realu need to see the musical en to be optimistic about our future.
Because the colour purple represents that through adversity we find within ourselves the strength to rise up, stand up, voice up showing how relevant #MeToo is today
Big fan of the movie, starring Oprah – and being a thespian myself, I’d love to see the SA stage rendition. ??
Love the colour purple movie would be an adventure to see the musical!
Besides it being one of my favourite musical… It would be great to see how it will be potrayed in South Africa. From the cast to the crew. How well it will be executed. How our industry’s triple threats will bring about all those characters onstage. I would be honoured to witness history being made on the joburg theatre stage.
I’ve always been obsessed with musical drama, how they get to express their emotions and feelings through dance and song. It would be a great thrill to experience such joy in theatre for the 1st time.
I would love to see the show live as seen the movie and love going to the theatre and would be an awesome birthday present for my mom. ?
After watching the movie, I realised it does not only take a female to understand the impact of love and all the bag of emotions attached to it on The Colour Purple script. I went to Youtube to watch Cynthia Arivo septure the role of Celee and learnt all the music score, each track has a day and place in my life but “I am Here” keeps me going on a daily basis.
So seeing the entire ensemble on stage, and all scenes put together live would just complete the illusion i’ve inherited from the play, on a daily basis. This show feeds me life, its relatable & it’s a voice to all the voiceless under every roof.
“Got my hands doing good like they’re suppose to showing my heart to the folks that I am close to”…
Congrats Tebogo! I have sent you an email!
The movie was a differnt vibe, and i would love to experience the theatrical interpretation of this great musical.
