Yes, it’s the last Sunday of the month again – and that means it’s time for Social Sunday at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton.
Now I know it’s busy weekend already, but you do not want to miss this November iteration of an epic event!
This is set to be five-course feast to usher in festive season like you have no idea!
As South Africa winds down to the end of 2017, and with the summer holidays just weeks away, it’s the season to be jolly. Yet again, there will be on offer good food to satisfy all palates, live music to dance to from The Groove Masters, a complimentary drink and a festive atmosphere at Sun International’s flagship urban hotel situated in the heart of Africa’s financial hub, Sandton.
Maslow Marketing Manager, Sibongile Morale said the November 26th lunch would be “the perfect setting for an end of year business function, as well as the place for friends and family to catch up.”
“It’s a wonderful environment, conducive to relaxation and letting go; perfect for parents with children, for work colleagues, for young and old,” she said.
Executive chef Justin Jonah and his culinary team have planned a five-course feast that will cost just R295 a head.
He said: “Ensuring that the price of the meal is affordable is our way of saying thank you to our loyal clientele who have enjoyed, and supported, Social Sundays this year. It’s the season of giving and we are happy to give back at this time.”
In keeping with relaxed nature of a Sunday lunch, Chef Justin said guests could expect “casual, simple but delicious food.” Chef Justin has devoted most of his career to fine dining. “Of course there is a place for fine dining, but It becomes monotonous, cooking food that you often can’t identify,” he laughed.
“My favourite dish on the menu is the salmon served with cauliflower puree – mainly because my partner Chantal loves it and it’s a firm favourite in our home. “
Also on the menu, as homage to his Afrikaans partner Chantal, Chef Justin has designed a delicious mosbolletjie cracker to be served with Gorgonzola and melon preserve.
In a Maslow first, on hand to meet and greet the lunch guests will be the culinary staff at The Maslow. There to answer questions about the food will be Chef Justin, Executive Sous Chef, Grant van der Riet, Chef de Cuisine, Giovanni Palayandi and Pastry Chef, Tiffany Shawe.
“The guests can meet the people who’ve planned and, in some instances, cooked their food,” Sibongile Morale said. She added that it was now the perfect time to book a place at The Maslow table for Christmas and New Year dining experiences – “while we still have place as our Christmas and New Year lunches are very popular.”
The garden, a green lung that is an inner city haven with its rolling lawns and copse of trees, provides the backdrop to all events at The Maslow.
