This is set to be the biggest, wildest and most unforgettable year end party to hit Johannesburg with the insanely funny, high energy, feel good smash hit musical stage production of the year: Rock of Ages.

It’s a sing-along, dancing-in-the-aisle, party show with tons of humour all supporting a charming love story! The South African premier of this multi Tony award-nominated Broadway musical will be live at Gold Reef’s Lyric Theatre from Friday, 17 November to Sunday, 10 December 2017.

I have two sets of tickets to give away to the 20h00 performance on Saturday 18th November for two lucky readers valued at R 300 per set!!

Featuring 28 nostalgic rock anthems including the music of Pat Benatar, Styx, Twisted Sister, Poison, Foreigner, Reo Speedwagon and more, Rock Of Ages pays homage to the big rock concerts of the 80’s. Taking audiences all the way back to 1987 to the fabled West Hollywood club, the ‘Bourbon Room’, set on LA’s infamous Sunset Strip – tells the story of Drew, a city boy from South Detroit and Sherrie, a small-town girl that have both landed up in LA to chase their dreams of making it big. Rock Of Ages celebrates a time when big glamour rock bands where the epitome of decadence, superficiality, oversized egos, never ending guitar solos, extreme clothes and outrageous hairstyles!

The story’s characters are played by a stellar South African cast – Drew (Josh Ansley – The Voice S.A. Runner-Up), Sherrie (Claire Taylor), Lonny (Zak Hendrikz), Dennis Dupree (Craig Urbani), Stacee Jaxx (Andrew Webster), Regina (Natasha van der Merwe), and Justice (Mpumelelo Mayiyane). The impressive set list of songs will be performed by an incredible live band, and led by acclaimed Musical Director, Wessel Odendaal.

Warning: This show will contain scenes of Rock ‘n’ Roll debauchery – PG advised.

Humour and loving story are a nice combination, and a recipe for a thorough entertainment. Rock of Ages offers so much and it would be a pleasure desired by myself to part of it with my partner.

80’s rockn roll. What an absolute blast of an era. The days when rockers had long hair and hair teazing was the thing

Surly a millennial should be given the opportunity to appreciate music from a different era. Somehow get the chance to feel like I was there!
