It’s all kicking off today, and yesterday saw much excitement as entrepreneur, business mogul and philanthropist Russell Simmons arrived today in South Africa ahead of the two-day Liberty VUKA Knowledge Summit which takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre today and Thursday.

Simmons, the co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, is one of the keynote speakers at the conference and will share insights into how he worked to turn a dormant, written off culture into a global force and how curious, insightful and centred people are the driving force.

Simmons, who parlayed his success in music into several fashion lines including Phat Farm and Baby Phat and is CEO of Rush Communications, has been dubbed one of “Hollywood’s Most Influential Celebrities” by Forbes.
