I promise you, eating healthy food has never been this exciting, or decadent and delicious. I am excited to be involved with The Pink Table Project for their upcoming Progressive Charity Lunch with a ‘Twist’. An event where you don’t really know ahead of time where your next course is, until literally moments before.

The Pink Table Project was started in South Africa as a Cancer Awareness & Fundraising Event for the PinkDrive on World Cancer Day 2016, where they hosted pink table dinner parties at more than 80 Restaurants across the country, with over 1000 participants raising over R 100 000. The aim for 2017 is bigger, better and more funds raised for cancer!

Simply speaking, The #PinkTableSwitch Series is a Cancer Wellness Awareness & Fundraising Event taking place this October, with a primary focus on the healthier menu items on a restaurant’s menu. What makes this project unique is that they are asking the participating restaurant hosts to present a 3-course Healthier Set-Menu, of a Starter, Main & Dessert, with vegetarian options where needed.

“We believe that most, if not all, restaurants have healthy/ier items on their menus, maybe not perfectly healthy, but they are there, and we want to know about it. Most, if not all, online restaurant guides inadequately highlight healthy eating provisions in the restaurant industry, yet it’s become such a prevalent focus, so we’ve decided to take this step ourselves with this project.” says founder Ryan Matheson.

They have selected 30 Switch-Restaurants for the event – 10 in Joburg, 10 in Pretoria and 10 in Cape Town, each with their own #IFoundHealthy 3-Course Wine-Paired Pink Menu!

Yup, you got it, they are revealing all 30 restaurants and their menus prior to the event, but not where you are going, because we love secrets too much, and because we want this to be an entirely new experience!

Your ‘arrival’ cocktail venue is only revealed 24-hours prior to the event via text notification, while your Starter, Mains & Dessert venues only revealed 30 minutes prior to seating, via a sealed envelope that you choose at your previous seating!

Secretive Huh?!

YES, your venue changes as your course changes!
YES, each table is a community table!
YES, your ‘community’ changes as your venue changes!
YES, we’ll keep switching it up until you’re done!
YES, there will be Vegetarian options at each venue!
YES, each venue is close by to the previous venue!

They will be announcing their Cancer Beneficiary shortly, and you will be able to make a donations directly to the beneficiary by bidding for prizes at each table, at a set price, or, and here’s the really fun part, if someone really wants the seat at the restaurant you have selected, you may start your own bidding war to ‘sell’ your seats. The highest bid for your seat gets your seat.
