Are you ready, Joburg? One of my fave events of all time, The Oyster, Wine & Food Festival is heading back to us, and TBH I am over the excited – TBH, what could be better than bubbles and oysters? Right?

The festival will be taking place from Friday 1st September to Sunday 3rd September – once again at the stunning outdoor arena at Montecasino.

The festival has been crowned as Gauteng’s largest Oyster Festival, and promises once again to deliver an event of gastronomic proportion.

Foodies, Newbies and Wannabe’s will enjoy a variety of luscious oysters from the West coast and the Eastern Cape supplied by the Knysna Oyster Company, the oldest oyster farm in South Africa established way back in 1949.

These delectable bivalves of the sea, which range from Medium to Large and Extra Large, will be served from five outlets, which will facilitate easier redeeming of your voucher for your two free oysters (included in the purchase price of each ticket).

Fresh oysters, along with grilled prawns will be abundantly available for famished Festival-goers. Oysters will be sold at R 20.00 (Medium) and R 35.00 (Extra Large). Festival Special when redeeming your ticket buy 6 medium oysters for only R80.00.

The festival will feature other culinary delights including the popular braaied prawns and 50+ gourmet outlets. The star of the show, the oyster, will be joined by 40 Wine Estates, 6 International Wine brands, 6 Méthode Cap Classique producers, Craft Beer Breweries and interesting Gin and Brandy Societies.

Festivalgoers will have the opportunity to taste and savor the delights offered by vendors before they buy wine and gourmet food to take home. For those that want to take advantage of the cellar door wine prices we are supplying a Wine Wagon Service from the Wine Circle to your car.

A portion of the ticket sales will also be donated to the Smile Foundation. This worthwhile charity who together with our country’s top Academic Hospitals help children in need of surgery for treatable facial anomalies such as cleft lip, cleft palate, nose and ear conditions, facial paralysis (Moebius Syndrome), burn wounds and craniofacial abnormalities.

Wine makers and wine aficionados will share their vision of wine and talk about the history and economy of the wine industry and ongoing information on the different wine estates that are represented at the event. Also, how to taste and judge wine. Is this a fabulous wine or just ordinaire? The sessions are free but limited to 40 seats per session.

The entertainment for this year’s festival is soulful, sophisticated and varied. These live performances are sure to enhance festivalgoers’ experience.

Joburg’s multiple award winning Hot 91.9 is proudly partnering with for the Oyster Wine & Food Fesitval.
