I popped in to the tranquil La Beaute On The Lake located in Parkview a few weeks ago, and was certainly not prepared for the treats that lay in store 🙂

After battling a bit to locate the salon, which did not have exterior signage and the bell that didn’t work – stepping inside was certainly a much need oasis of quiet after a manic day.

Greeted with beaming smile and one of my fave mags to read while I wait (Hello Joburg Magazine, that is) I was offered a cup of freshly brewed coffee (which I declined considering that I was in a salon for health, so opted for a glass of water instead) but could not turn down the beautifully decorated and freshly made cupcakes on offer.

I was then whisked through to the pedi room – super comfy chair, and a basin set up in front of it. I disposed of my boots, stockings and the like – isn’t winter such a pain with clothing!

The garden view was peaceful and the warm water relaxing. I was treated to a Jelly Pedi – which is basically these very awesome crystals that turn in to jelly when you add them to the water. Mine were infused with peppermint – smelling super fresh and turned the water a rather funky green colour.

The hydration element is the focus here, so feet are submerged for 10 – 20 minutes and massaged to help with hydration – winter skin is the worst and I suffer really badly up here on the Highveld, so anything that can help is an added benefit. After 20 minutes the deactivator powder is added and the process reverses itself. I think kids would totally love this, and the kit is also available to purchase to do at home, so of course I grabbed one, so that I can repeat and hydrate at home.

After the Jelly Pedi my feet were given a good pruning and tidy up, and then I was whisked off to the Theravine Facial room. A great effort had been put in to the room, from making sure that the temprature was nice and warm, to the towel, candle and floral touches on the bed.

Theravine offers an anti-oxidant, nutrient rich facial that nourishes and revitalises dull, fatigued skin types. This facial incorporates a specialised, warm multi-active grape- and linseed face pack which stimulates and enhances the action of the products applied during the treatment.

I may or may not have totally switched off here (except for about 20 minutes of screaming kids running about outside that upset my relaxation a bit) but by the end of it I was totally chilled AND my skin was left feeling smooth, soft and radiant.

The masque that they used is also reusable, so I got to take that home, for whenever I need an extra little boost of moisture and love for my poor dry skin.

This was certainly a great experience and I would return again in a heart beat. La Beaute on the Lake also offer waxing, full body treatments, slimming and Laser hair removal.
