Most skin care products take a one fits all approach – youth, normal and older. That’s it. The team at Lamelle Research Laboratories view things slightly differently.

Skins are different, sensitive and tough, light and dark, and skin care is certainly not a one size fits all. Evidence Based Innovation is their by line, and for the last 10 years Lamelle have been reworking and recreating their brand to ensure that all their products are at the front of the curve.

A South African biotechnology research company that manufactures products that are innovative and evidenced based. Started in 2007, the two founders have over 25 years of medical and pharmacy experience between them.

I recently spent some time with Karen Bester, resident Product Specialist at Lamelle, finding out more about the range, and what they do.

All their products are developed through a rigorous programme of review, research and meticulous production. Using internationally purchased ingredients, the team at Lamelle started creating, testing and refining their products to ensure they are always ahead of the curve.

Ageing prevention is key, and given our hectic lifestyles, Lamelle have put a lot of attention in to their ranges that aim at “combating” ageing. They also have a dry and sensitive skin range, as well as offering a range products for peels, mesotherapy, lipolysis, microneedling and more, including sexual health products for both men and women.

 

 

We also chatted sun care. It may be winter, but that doesn’t mean that you should stop wearing sun screen. OUr climate in South Africa is harsh. Lamelle have created Helase, their 50 SPF sunscreen. I got excited. I have loads of freckles, and must wear sun screen more than others to avoid burning in to a crisp.

Unlike so many other cosmetic products available, this truly is a first to market one of a kind cosmetic; a breakthrough in ageing treatment and it’s being heralded as potentially the best photo-protection product available.

Basically prevention has been our only route, now Lamelle introduces Helase 50 that not only prevents, but also physically corrects damaged DNA (Dangerous DNA breaks and “kinks” such as dimers which left untreated, can produce more ‘abnormal’ cells. Correction is therefore essential to return cell function to normal).
