I popped in recently to have a wee scout around this stunning venue and was lucky enough to bump in to the owner, Leah McCrae while i was there and got to chat to her a bit more about this amazingly open, airy and versatile venue.
Once the well-known Imax Theatre back in the day, the venue has inherited elegant, transformable space and light, as well as an extremely high ceiling which creates excellent acoustics.
Driving past Hyde Park Corner, you may notice the large windows on top of the centre, but never realised that within lies an extremely beautiful venue – boasting a great view of Joburg as well might I add.
No pillars are another fantastic plus to the venue, and the large windows create a stunning backdrop as the sun sets over Johannesburg. They also have a great little outdoor roof area (you can stick the smokers out there), or use it for smaller outdoor events too.
They have played host to some amazing clients ranging from Global Banking Institutes, Telecom Companies, SA’s Largest Ad Agencies, Fashion & Lifestyle Brands, Magazine and many more.
They are also officially the home of SA Fashion Week (YAY!) and I am looking forward to attending the Prism Awards here this weekend.
They are also really excited to announce some urban theatre will be heading our way soon as well. Leah spoke about having to travel out of local area’s to visit either Braamfontein or Montecasino to see a good theatre show, so why not make theatre more accessible to the people of Hyde Park, Craighall Park, Randburg and the surrounds?
Sounds good to me, and I will make sure to keep you updated on this.
Make sure to check them out for your next event – the upstairs room is great for more intimate events.
