I have never actually eaten here, would you believe – as every single restaurant around them has changed name and look over the 7 years that I have been in Jozi, I never once popped in to say hello. Well, I can honestly say I am glad I finally took the leap 😉

I was lucky enough to join a group celebrating a well known celebrity’s birthday lunch here – and the private dining area was perfectly sized, and seeing as we had a whisky sponsor on board, gave the exact same elegance with the dark paneling, and wooden high back chairs and sturdy table.

We were offered a set menu, yet still with a choice between our starters and mains. I selected the Springbok Carpaccio, which was sprinkled with parmesan cheese and rocket and had a unique and amazing “smoky” taste never experienced before – two thumbs up. Others at the table slurped down their prawns and raved about how tasty they were.

Main course I opted for the Ostrich fillet with pepper sauce and a baked potato (here is to my healthy eating plan for 2017) – it was delicious and huge (once again a takeaway for dinner for Heather!)

Others ordered Springbok or Rib Eye steaks – and feedback was excellent.

Dessert offered was a delicious chocolate fondant cake (molten liquid in the inside) served with ice cream, and I won’t lie I cleaned my plate 😉

At the front of the restaurant you can peruse the wine cellar through a glass window, everything well labelled and clearly priced, makes for a nice selection – I have always preferred looking at stuff, rather than ordering off a normal wine list or menu (listen visuals are more than 75% of the meal to be honest.

They offer “balcony” seating which looks out on to Nelson Mandela square as well as indoor seating and very cool booths.

Certainly a great “meat” stop and a wonderful place to entertain clients, especially internationals who love great local meat and seafood. Highly recommended.
