Nestled in the quaint Post Office centre in Illovo lies the bespoke boutique salon, Posh Nail and Beauty. Now as you all know I am a Sorbet girl – however I have discovered that Posh offers IPL treatments, which I am going to be starting in the new year and I am really excited!

There’s nothing more important to Emma Pike, business owner of the bespoke boutique salon Posh Nail & Beauty, than salon service with a distinct personal touch. Add to that highly chic décor that’s inviting, the very best of treatments (like on-trend microblading that Emma has vetted herself) and those extra special attention-to-detail touches that client’s simply don’t get anywhere else.

They do offer the basics such as mani’s and pedi’s waxing, spray tanning and QMS facials amongst others, but it is the IPL treatments that have me intrigued!

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy is the revolutionary therapy that is non-invasive and non-ablative, and uses high intensity pulses of visible light to improve the appearance of the following skin problems:

  • Vascular lesions including spider angiomas, port wine stains, broken facial veins, rosy cheeks, rosacea and red thread veins of the legs
  • Freckles and age marks
  • Facial lines and wrinkles
  • Removal of unwanted dark hair

So, I am obvisouly graced with the presence of freckles from head to tow, and have been very conscious of them my entire life – some are darker than others, and I am most specifically looking to lighten the darker ones on my face.

IPL systems work on the same principles as lasers, in the sense that light energy is absorbed into particular target cells with colour (chromophores) in the skin. The light energy is converted to heat energy, which causes damage to the specific target area – so in other words the darker areas – and helps to lighten them.

It can depend on how many areas you have, the darkness of the pigmentation, or the darkness and coarseness of the hair, as to how many treatments you will require – but can range anything from 4 – 12 sessions. The results are permanent – and that’s what I love.

As I will only be starting my treatments in 2017 – I will keep you updated as we go along, and will be posting the pictures on social media during my journey.
