I could literally just waffle on all about the new Van de Waffle kiosk now open in Rosebank The Zone, but shall restrain myself.

These are waffles like no other – it’s a secret dough recipe, with chunks of palm sugar added at the critical moment – that when cooked, gives the dough a crunch like no other.

There are a number of topping options available – involving things like strawberries, bananas, Nutella, Specaloos, marshmallows, sprinkles, ice cream and cream.

Within a few weeks they plan to introduce a savory waffle selection too 😉

My friend and I opted to share the WMD or “Waffle of Mass Deliciousness” which is a Belgium Liege Waffle covered with Nutella and fresh ice cream with strawberries. Wow. Mass deliciousness indeed! Crunchy, but not too sweet and just the right size too.

Their website is still under construction, but they are open daily and are located in the bridge area of The Zone, next to the Coco Tea stall and very near to Sweets from Heaven, slightly hard to find, but keep looking, it’s worth it!
