I am not a golfer – but I know what the 19th Extreme is. Do you? Well I got to play this legendary golfing hole recently – and experience the wonders of Legends Golf and Safari Resort at the same time.

Encompassed by the Legend portfolio- which embraces the rich diversity of South Africa, her people, her languages, culture, breath-taking scenery and abundant bird, marine and animal life. The group features safari and country lodges, coastal hotels, cultural villages and shebeens in South Africa as well as Mozambique and Botswana.

Recognizing that the business travel, conference and incentives markets are continually evolving, the group keeps up to date with new trends and developments. Legend strives to maintain the level of service, standards and core attractions that draw travellers to its properties and endeavours to incorporate new venues, attractions, facilities and activities into its portfolio to ensure it meets and exceeds expectations.

Diversity of product offering is important and Legend offers a varied number of indoor and outdoor venues to suit a variety of needs and budgets – from intimate, high-level power meetings to conferences for medium to large groups of people, themed evenings and adrenalin-inducing teambuilding activities. The family-friendly properties cater for all, from suites to apartments and more.

Talk about adrenalin, why don’t we? Why not take a 5 minute helicopter flip up to the highest golfing hole in the world. Enter stage left…the 19th Extreme! So you literally wack a ball off the side of the mountain – and wait on average 22 seconds for the ball to hit the green below. (The average golf ball during a normal golf game stays suspended for 7 to 8 seconds, just FYI) A hole in one secures you a Million Rands in winnings. To date, no one has even gotten close. Honestly I think I smacked a dassie on the head on the ledge below during my rather futile attempt…there is a reason I played for the 3rd netball team in high school, just saying.

In recent years Legend Hospitality Group has also endeavored to go green and committed to various environmental improvement plans at our properties.

The ethos of Legend is to extract the spirit from its African surroundings and imprint it into everything that it offers, and they do this with aplomb.

There are a variety of dining venues to eat in, so they can keep a conference or team building getaway totally inspired with new scenery every day, and the team are en pointe with attention to detail every step of the way. From seamless check in, to shuttles every 5 minutes to get you to where you need to be on the large estate to a fully equipped pro-shop and big five game drives, only 2 hours from Johannesburg – I think this is my new weekend escape 🙂
