A self confessed carnivore, I was super impressed with our Meat Free Monday braai, organised by Fry’s foods where we got to enjoy a range of sausages and burger patties that were absolutely delicious!

They also do chicken strips, mince, pies, cocktail rolls and just about everything that’s meaty – but meat free of course!

Animal raising – the time, effort and resources needed to nurture them for food are far above that of vegetables. There are more things to think about than just resources though, and some vegetable products such as soy can have the opposite effect. But, in an overcrowded world where resources are sacred, we must look at what would happen if we reduced our animal intake.

Items such as Flaxseed, Rice Protein, Quinoa and chia seeds are some of Natures plant proteins and super foods that belong in our food, and many South Africans suffer from diseases, such as Diabetes, Alzheimers, Osteoporosis and Cardiovascular disease. A plant based, Vegan diet lowers the chance of developing these diseases as well as improving the general health of you and your family.

Vegan and Vegetarian diets are becoming more and more common worldwide, and with a fast pace lifestyle in mind, Fry’s strive to ensure that you get food that is naturally high in Protein, fibre, iron, b12 and omegas.

It all began in the Fry’s family kitchen in 1991, where Wally and Debbie Fry, began making burgers and sausages without the meat. Debbie was born vegetarian, and Wally (an avid meat eater) changed after meeting Debbie (she got her way!).

Their range of vegan products (they don’t do meat, egg or dairy) are now available all over the world and make eating a plant-based diet, that is good for you and the planet, that much easier.
