One of my favorite venues in The Garden Route ever is celebrating the arts this season.

Fancourt is set to celebrate the upcoming summer season with a series of concerts, showcasing local Georgian talent.

As a leading leisure destination in the Garden Route, appealing to both local and international guests, Fancourt is constantly looking to create new and innovative projects highlighting all that George has to offer. Its latest venture is a series of summer concerts celebrating George’s artistic talents.

First in the Fancourt Classical Series 2016 – 2017 is the Carnival of the Dancers, with matinee and evening performances taking place on Friday 28 October. The inspired showcasing will feature an emulsion of dance genres; from Classical to Contemporary and the local talents of the Christelle Smit Dance Studio, Elvinia’s Dance Academy and the York High School Dance Department.

Attendees of the show will also enjoy artists Leanne Heysteck and Lorenzo Moolman dance a Pas des Deux. There will also be a special guest appearance by renowned dancer and teacher, Jeannette Ziady, whose routines are sure to be a highlight throughout the series.

After the Carnival of the Dancers opens the series on Friday 28 October, the arts celebration will continue with the Carnival of Voices and Instruments on Friday 2 December 2016. The second instalment will feature outstanding instrumental solos and ensembles including Marlene Vlok (piano), Kerwin Albertus (saxophone) and singers Chanté van der Westhuizen and Pieter Raath. The summer series wraps up with the Carnival of Nature & Music on Friday 3 February 2017.

“Fancourt is honoured to be part of bringing these outstanding local talents together and we look forward to what will certainly be a highlight of our summer season,” said  CEO, Georgie Davidson. “The Fancourt Classical Series will include everything from dancers, to singers and musicians. These shows are the perfect way for those who appreciate the arts to unwind at the end of the week or to enjoy a holiday in the Garden Route.”

Bringing together the masterful concert as artistic director is acclaimed musicologist and musician, Dr. Ronell van Aswegen. A resident at Fancourt, Dr. van Aswegen is passionate about showcasing local Georgian talent and has joined forces with Fancourt to put on an extravaganza celebrating George’s vast and impressive offerings.

“We’re looking forward to showcasing Georgian talents to not only visitors and residents of Fancourt this summer but similarly to all avid fans along the Garden Route,” said Dr. van Aswegen. “Our local artists and performers have so much to offer and I’m thankful to be working with a team who is dedicated to sharing these gifts with others.”

Each instalment is unique and creative, making this trio of concerts the ideal way to enjoy a summery Friday in the Garden Route. “Fancourt is very proud to be hosting these summer showcases. We’ve had great success with similar events in the past and hope that residents and guests will enjoy our local talents as much as we do,” said Davidson.
