Vinyl Sundays kicked off on Sunday 2 October, and is set to return on the first Sunday of every month going forward.
Vinyl fans and music enthusiasts descended upon Stanley Beer Yard for their monthly vinyl fix. The Vinyl Fair, also known as #VinylSundays, kicked off an exciting day of music, craft beer and delicious food at its new home, the Stanley Beer Yard. Featuring 10 of JHB’s best record shops and dealers, the market featured something for all music tastes and levels of interest. From rare and obscure jazz titles, to the must-own Rodriguez and Dire Straits; the Vinyl Fair had something for everyone.
Local celebs and vinyl enthusiasts, John Vlismas and Randall Abrahams, were both spotted digging through record crates; while international punk rock legend, Henry Rollins (Black Flag / Rollins Band), and touring artists Samiyam (Stones Throw Records) and Natureboy Flako, also popped in to see if they could find some elusive records and South African pressings.
When asked about the move to the new venue, organiser Bret Dugmore of Mr Vinyl (http://mrvinyl.co.za/) said “we’re really happy to move to the Stanley Beer Yard. Considering that the venue already does vinyl evenings on Thursday and Fridays, it just made sense to us. It really is a beautiful, unique spot and judging by the turnout and fun being had today, it’s been good for us”.
The Stanley Beer Yard is located at 44 Stanley Avenue in Milpark, just adjacent to the Garden Court Milpark. #VinylSundays is set to return on 6 November and on the first Sunday of every month thereafter.
