Have heard so much about Nineteen, and now I know why. Wow. Beautiful setting within the Steyn City complex.

The gate guards directions were fantastic (it’s a bit of a winding drive from the main gate to the Clubhouse complex) and I arrived on time for my lunch date with friends and fellow food lovers.
The venue is beautiful, high ceilings, big windows and a beautiful black and white checked floor. Shelves are packed with books and beautiful artifacts. The view over the golf course also doesn’t hurt 😉
The menu is not massive, but it does not need to be – each dish crafted perfectly and set to wow. We chose to share a selection of starters and mains to give us a chance to try as many different dishes as possible.

With a glass of bubbly in hand we set about enjoying our starter selection – my favorite the smoked trout with capers, avocado and cream cheese. We also enjoyed the Cob salad, and the most delicious potted duck liver pate! Seared scallops and buffalo mozarella with parma ham were also a hit.

My selected main course – the Mediterranean chicken curry was really filling and I highly recommend the seared Scottish salmon served on a bed of wilted spinach and a new potato salad with brocolli.

The lamb potjie, served in the cutest little pot is also highly recommended and the prawn pasta received many compliments. I also really enjoyed the roast pork belly served with courgette and potato rosti.
Simply served, but the taste and flavors will certainly blow you away.

I left before dessert was served, but I will certainly need to return for desserts as the options all looked too delicious!
All in all a magical escape from the city, and the views are amazing. I do believe this may be my new inner city escape.
