What an incredibly special evening at The Green Peppercorn in Morningside. I was totally blown away by their menu, presentation and pricing – no attention to detail was spared at this stalwart dining institution.
Blown away by this place. Love the vibe, it’s easy to see why this bistro is rated so highly. The food was literally mouth watering. We selected a tasting platter of starters to share amongst us to get an idea of as any starters as possible.
The platter had calamari, thai fish cake, ostrich spring roll and lamb samoosa on it and all of them were amazingly tasty especially the samoosa.
For mains I selected the braised pork belly with crackling and sweet potato puree. The portion was huge and delicious.
My dining partners enjoyed their Drambuie Duck breast and fillet bernaise steak with chorizo arancini balls, immensely.
We tasted each others dishes and I was really impressed. I loved being able to select my wine from the wine rack on the wall, as opposed to a printed menu and the menus on iPads was really cool, have not seen that before.
For dessert we once again selected the tasting plate and were wowed with a mango and and white chocolate crumble, toffee nut cheesecake and a bread and butter pudding. Once again outstanding. Service was good and I will certainly visit again, just for the experience!
