Ready to Rumba? Sizzling for a Sensational Salsa…then look no further – Burn the Floor – “Fire in The Ballroom” opens at Joburg Theatre in September, and already social media is rumbling with excitement, and indeed why not?
This international production returns to South African shores, and features our own home grown talent and Strictly Come Dancing runner-up, Johannes Radebe.
Groundbreaking choreographers Jason Gilkison and Peta Roby have spent two years working on the cherography, and as I type the show is currently performing to amazed European and American audiences.
Burn the Floor’s Executive Producer Nic Notley says, “The new show is totally different than our last production that came to Joburg, and will blow the roof off the theatre! It has the same rebellious spirit, though more daring with a more theatrical rock angle.”
With the reputation of being one of the “worlds toughest dance shows” – the dancers are handpicked from around the world, so to have one of our own performers in the cast is a coup for the South African audience.
Complete with a new set, new costumes and new music including Santana, Janis Joplin, Christina Aguilera and Led Zeppelin this show is literally going to blow the roof off the theatre.
With the byline “Not Your Grandma’s Ballroom” I have to say I am literally counting down the days to opening night!
