I literally lagged so hard I was wiping my eye make up off my fingers with the tissues intended for the eye wiping. #TrueStory.

Mortimar Williams’s, The Full Morty, show opened at Joburg Theatre last week, and to be honest I was a bit skeptical. You know, the whole Mark Lottering thing…I wasn’t quite sure what to expect here – but an original and clever script and acting kept us entertained for just over an hour. And an added surprise the most amazing vocal prowess from Morty himself, talk about unexpected!!

Well written script by Kristy Suttner, who also doubles up as the director of the show, and has worked with Mort on a number of hit shows, which have traversed the country over the years.

A simple stage set and a few minor costume changes kept things interesting, and although I felt the show was a bit short in its running duration was well worth the time spent in the smaller “Fringe” theatre in the Joburg Theatre Complex.

I love a good old traditional South African comedy show, and with Trevor Noah making some space in the market, lets hope Morty steps up to fill his shoes.
